OMG...my last post was 2007!!!

So this blog is called "A Novel At My Fingertips"...what a joke. That last blog is the ONLY writing I've done since 2007. The NANO competition that year came and went, just like the ones in 2008, 2009, and 2010. I've had high hopes before of getting kick-started with my writing, and failed miserably each and every time.

Hey, I'm not one to fluff the truth, ok? I SUCK at this thing called writing...true, maybe I do have some talent with word spinning, but talent is only good enough to get you NOWHERE. You need motivation, drive, and discipline...all key ingredients I lack.

"But this is the year you will FINISH something!" boasts my Super-Ego.

"Not likely, douche bag! Lets be real honest here!" answers my Ego.

"Whatever guys. What time is Dancing With the Stars on again?" adds my Id.

And sadly, that's the answer I usually give to my writing. WHATEVER.

But here I am, attempting to stir up some inspiration. Trying to oil up these rusty old gears inside my brain. Let's see what happens.

NANO approaches...tick...tock...tick...

Well, November 1st is just around the corner, and this year I will attempt NANO once more. For those who don't know what NANO is, it is an organization of writers who attempt to complete a novel in one months time....November. I've been a member for a few years now, but only attempted the competition once...which...um...lasted a day or so.

Doesn't the truth suck?

Anyhow, it is a competition only in the sense that you are basically competing against yourself, fighting against those internal urges that typically stall your writing (i.e. those little devilish bastards of your consciousness who sit on you shoulder and whisper into your ear "You don't need to write today...just go web-surfing or take a nap or pick your nose or...DO ANYTHING BUT WRITE, DAMMIT!"), and just producing some kind of finished text over the course of 4 weeks or so. It doesn't have to be brilliant or Pultizer Prize worthy, just one completed work from BEGINNING to END.

So yeah, that is what I am going to attempt.

Again.

And everyday, I'll post my thoughts here.

Whether they're good, bad, or indifferent.

The countdown is ticking...
